| Admissions to the MBA Program at the Department of Management Sciences (DoMS), IIT Kanpur for the 2024-26 Batch[International applicants may follow the respective guidelines to apply]EligibilityQualifying ExaminationTo apply for the academic session of 2024-26 (2024-26 MBA Batch), an applicant must appear for the CAT 2023 examination conducted by IIMs. Stage 1: Initial ApplicationApplication: Apply by filling the online form (https://pgadmissions.iitk.ac.in) if you meet the eligibility criteria.Eligibility Criteria for the MBA ProgramThe following are the eligibility requirements for applying to MBA program at Department of Management Sciences (DoMS), IIT Kanpur and will be used for shortlisting For GEN, EWS and OBC applicantsOverall score of 80 percentile or above in CAT-2023A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India with aggregate of 60% or a CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 10. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent (diploma) with Mathematics as one of the subjects.For SC and ST applicantsOverall score of 55 percentile or above in CAT-2023A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India with aggregate of 50% or a CPI of 5.0 on a scale of 10. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent (diploma) with Mathematics as one of the subjects.Note: Candidates appearing for the final degree examination can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally. They must complete all the requirements of the qualifying degree at the time of joining the MBA Programme. Stage 2: Short Listing of the ApplicationsThe shortlisting of the applications for further processing will be based on CAT-2023 percentile. The department will decide the cut-off percentiles for different categories based on the total number of eligible and completed applications received and the total number of approved seats in each category. Overall CAT-2023 percentile will be considered for shortlisting. Stage 3: Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) assessmentGD/PI assessment will be conducted for the short-listed applicants. GD panels will evaluate applicant’s performance in group discussion. The panels conducting PI assessment will evaluate candidates’ (a) academic background (b) work experience & (c) performance in the interview using a prior developed scoring matrix. The GD and PI assessment panels will have members from Department of Management Sciences, other departments of IIT Kanpur, and experts from outside IIT Kanpur, if necessary. Stage 4: Merit List PreparationAll short-listed applicants qualifying Stage 3 will be considered for the merit list preparation. The list will be prepared for each category based on the aggregate score arrived by adding individual scores of each candidate. Please note that forStages 2, 3 and 4 for [GN, EWS, OBC (NCL)] and [SC & ST] applicants will be conducted independently. These two groups, i.e., [GN + EWS + OBC (NCL)] and [SC + ST] will not be compared at any stage during the admission process.For each category, a final merit list and a wait list will be prepared. |
