The two year Master of Management (M. Mgt) program is a first of its kind in the country with two specializations, Technology Management & Business Analytics. This highly quantitative and technology oriented curriculum nurtures graduate engineers to become competent and socially responsible management leaders in technology intensive and data driven organizations.
As was expected the five batches of the program passed out and were well appreciated by all the sections of the industry. BA & TM courses create specialized managers with skills attuned to solving problems which require technical & analytical inclination along with application of management & statistical concepts. Some of the companies who have recruited our students include Citicorp, Walmart Labs, McKinsey and Company, General Electric, Cognizant, AB InBev GAC, KPMG, Shell, Thompson Reuters, Wipro and Infosys.
Master of Management at IISc Bangalore
Distinctive Focus:
In recent times, India is emerging as one of the global hubs of technology intensive organizations and R&D, with the increase in entry of MNCs in the high- tech and R&D sectors as well as rapid growth of domestic enterprises in these sectors. Such technology based and R&D intensive industries need executives with exposure and training in Management and Business Analytics. Formal education in analytics will strengthen the capability of these executives to perform robust analyses to make decisions in information and data driven organizations. It is to meet this need of high-tech industries of emerging India that our new Masters Program will focus on training the students in Business Analytics.

Objectives of the program:
- To enable graduate engineers to grow into competent and creative managers of technology intensive and data driven organizations.
- To encourage entrepreneurship for high technology start-ups To attract and foster doctoral students in management.
Course structure:
Hard Core Courses = 8 X 3 credits = 24 credits
Stream Core Courses = 4 X 3 credits = 12 credits
Electives = 12 credits
Project work = 16 credits
Total = 64 credits
Summer Term:
- Public Sector as well as Private Sector R&D Organizations, and
- High-tech Industries in the Corporate Sector.
Alternatively, some of them will be encouraged to get exposure to
- Business Incubation,
- Venture Capital Funds, and
- Successful Start-Ups.
The summer term is expected to expose students to live problems and practical aspects/ challenges of running an enterprise. This exposure will lead to an understanding of the application aspects of management, which the students can use in their project work.
After screening based on GATE / CAT /GMAT scores, group discussion and personal interview will be conducted at the Institute, in April. Selection will be based on performance in the group discussion and interview.

(a) Candidates short-listed for the aptitude test/group discussion and interview will be posted on Applicant’s interface on IISc website www.iisc.ac.in/admissions under Application Status link at least 2 weeks in advance Such candidates can take a print-out of the interview letters and make necessary arrangements for attending the interview. No separate communication will be sent by post.
(b) Candidates called for the aptitude test/group discussion and interview have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation etc.
(c) Candidates called for the aptitude test/group discussion and interview should bring with them attested copies of all their transcripts (marks cards from SSLC or equivalent onwards, degree certificate of the qualifying examination, etc.) and produce them before the interview committee, failing which, they will not be interviewed.
(d) Candidates belonging to the SC/ST category should bring the original caste/tribe certificate, issued by a competent authority for purposes of verification. OBC candidates belonging to non creamy layer/minorities (as listed in the Central list) will be required to produce the original certificate issued on or after January 1st by a competent authority.
(e) If you belong to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) – you must produce the original Income and Asset Certificate issued by the competent authority.
(f) Candidate belonging to PwD (person-with-disability), KM (Kashmiri-Migrant) categories should produce the originals of the appropriate certificates, issued as per Government of India rules, and Kashmiri Pandit/Kashmiri Hindu Family living in Kashmir valley should produce Kashmir valley domicle certificate.
(g) The offer letter for the selected candidates will be posted on Applicant’s interface on IISc website www.iisc.ac.in/admissions under Application Status link during the third week of June. They can download the offer letter and make necessary arrangements including payment of fees etc. No separate communication will be sent by post.
(h) Candidates admitted to M.Mgt programme should report to the Institute for completing admission formalities on July.
(i) At the time of joining, candidates should have completed all the requirements for the award of the qualifying degree including all examinations, dissertation projects, viva-voce, etc.
(j) Only candidates who produce all the mark sheets and degree certificates (original/provisional) issued by the University Authority will be given regular admission.
(k) Candidates who are awaiting results but have completed all formalities for the award of a degree should produce at the time of joining, a Course-Completion Certificate, issued by the Head of the institution (The Principal/Registrar). Such candidates will be given only provisional admission, which will be regularized on their producing all the marks sheets and degree certificates (original, or provisional)etc., issued by the University Authority on or before October failing which, the provisional admission stands cancelled.
