Section wise cutoffs

For Open Category (Non Engineers) candidates in the Open category, CAT cutoffs vary significantly across different Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). For the top-tier IIMs, namely IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta (commonly referred to as IIM ABC), the required percentile is exceptionally high, typically above 99+ for Open Category (Non Engineers) . These institutes are renowned for their rigorous selection processes and high academic standards.

The next tier includes IIMs in Mumbai, Indore, Lucknow, and Kozhikode (often abbreviated as IIM MILK). For these prestigious institutions, a Open Category (Non Engineers) candidate generally needs to secure a percentile above 98%ile to have a competitive chance of admission. These IIMs are highly sought after and maintain stringent admission criteria.

For the newer IIMs, established in the 2000s and early 2010s, such as IIM Shillong, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, and others, the cutoff for Open Category (Non Engineers) candidates is usually above 96 percentile. These institutes are gaining reputation and offer excellent educational opportunities.

The baby IIMs, which are the most recently established IIMs, have slightly lower cutoffs. A GEM candidate aiming for these institutes typically needs to score around the 93th percentile. Despite being newer, these IIMs are rapidly developing their programs and attracting quality faculty and students.
