IIM Mumbai Eligiblity And Selection Criteria For 2024-2026
Stage I: Minimum CAT percentile cut-offs along with sectional cut-offs to be considered for PI
In Stage I, candidates meeting the minimum requirements on both section-wise and overall percentiles in
CAT 2023 as given in Table 1 will be shortlisted for consideration in Stage II:


Stage II: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI)
From the candidates satisfying the criteria of Stage-I, shortlisted candidates will be called for Personal
Interview (PI) based on their CAT-2023 score along with sectional cut offs considering their reservation
category and gender diversity.
Stage III: Criteria for Final Selection for the MBA Programme
For the candidates who have appeared for the PI, a composite score for final selection will be derived using
the parameters and the corresponding weights listed in Table 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. This composite score will
be used for preparation of category-wise merit list.
For final selection process ‘Academic Performance & Work Experience Score (APWE Score)’ of an applicant
will be used. An applicant’s APWE score will be based on their percentage of marks obtained in the
10th standard, the 12th standard (depending upon the stream, viz., ‘Science’, ‘Commerce’ and ‘Arts &
Humanities’), the bachelor’s degree programme (depending upon the discipline) and work experience (as on
December 31, 2023) respectively. For details of academic disciplines, please refer to Table 6.




AC-1 (Economics, Commerce, Management, and Hospitality Related Areas):
Economics: Includes degrees in Economics, Economic Development, and Planning.
- Hospitality and Related Disciplines: Hospitality Studies, Catering Technology, Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism Management, and Tourism Studies.
- Commerce: Covers degrees in Accountancy, Auditing, Banking, Business Mathematics, Finance, Insurance, Investment Analysis, Public Finance, and related fields.
- Management: Includes degrees in Business Administration, Agribusiness Management, Entrepreneurship, Sports Management, Real Estate, Production and Industrial Management, Renewable Energy Management, and other business and management-related fields.
- Vocational Commerce/Management Degrees: Any vocational degree related to commerce and management.
AC-2 (Engineering, Technology, and Architecture Related Areas):
- Engineering/Technology: Covers all B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering)/B.S. (Engineering) degrees and integrated M.Tech degrees in fields like Chemical Technology, Electronics, Engineering Physics, etc. (Excludes design-related degrees).
- Agricultural Engineering/Food Technology: Includes Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, and Food Technology.
- Architecture: Includes all Architecture degrees (e.g., B.Arch).
- Biosciences, Geological Sciences, IT, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences: BE/B.Tech/Integrated M.Tech degrees in these areas.
- Textile Engineering/Technology: Degrees in Textile Engineering or Technology.
AC-3 (Science and Agriculture, excluding Medicine and Surgery):
- Science and Agriculture: Covers all B.S./B.Sc and integrated M.Sc degrees in areas such as Agriculture, Biosciences, Computer Applications, Fisheries, Forestry, Geological Sciences, Horticulture, Information Technology, Mathematical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy, Paramedical/Physiotherapy, Planning, and Veterinary Science.
- Vocational Science Degrees: Any vocational degree in science fields (e.g., B.S./B.Sc).
- Other Sciences: Includes Forensic Science, Home Science, Nursing, and other branches of Science.
AC-4 (Arts, Humanities, Law, Design, Education, Fashion Technology, Rural Studies):
- Arts/Humanities: Includes degrees in Archaeology, Education, Fine Arts, History, Languages, Literature, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Work, Sociology, etc.
- Design and Fashion: Includes all degrees related to Fashion Design, Interior Design, Leather Design, Jewelry Design, and similar fields.
- Law: Degrees such as LLB (B.L.), B.Com. LLB, BBA LLB.
- Education: Covers Physical Education and Sports degrees.
- Journalism and Media: Degrees in Journalism, Mass Communication, and Media Studies.
- Psychology: All degrees in Psychology.
- Rural Studies: Degrees related to Rural Sociology, Rural Cooperatives, Rural Banking, and Rural Development.
AC-5 (Miscellaneous Categories):
- Any Other Discipline: Includes any discipline not specifically mentioned in AC-1 to AC-4.
Additional Notes:
- Dual Degrees: Applicants with dual bachelor’s degrees will be classified into categories based on their fields of study.
- Integrated Master’s: Classification for integrated master’s degree holders will be based on the discipline of the integrated master’s program.
- Higher Degrees: Subsequent degrees after a bachelor’s or integrated master’s degree are not considered for classification unless specifically listed.
The final classification of academic programs is at the discretion of IIM Mumbai’s Admissions Committee.
