    • Monitor RBI rates: Repo, Reverse Repo, CRR (Cash Reserve Ratio), and SLR (Statutory Liquidity Ratio), and understand their implications.
  5. Global Context: Be aware of global financial events and issues such as demonetization, Brexit, and significant political developments like Trump’s policies.
  6. Articulate Your Motivation: Be prepared to explain why you want to pursue an MSc in Finance instead of an MBA or PGDM, even if you have strong academic credentials.

2 – JBIMS M.Sc Finance Admission Process
  1. Eligibility and Initial Call:
    • Scored 99.66 percentile in CET 2019.
    • Received a call for the M.Sc Finance program at JBIMS.
  2. Selection Process:
    • Written Ability Test (WAT):
      • Topic: “Impact of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) on the profits of the company.”
      • Duration: 10 minutes.
    • Group Discussion (GD):
      • Topic: “Artificial Intelligence will end up destroying more jobs than creating it.”
      • Format: 8 members in the group, 2 panelists.
      • Duration: 20 minutes, including summarization time.
    • Personal Interview (PI):
      • Panel: 2 panelists.
      • Content:
        • Questions on: Why finance? Why JBIMS? Why M.Sc in Finance and not an MBA in Finance?
        • Basic finance concepts, such as derivatives and recent financial news.
        • Questions on educational background (B.Sc in Chemistry) and hobbies.
      • Duration: 25 minutes.
  3. Preparation Tips:
    • Finance Knowledge: Have a basic understanding of finance concepts. While deep expertise isn’t necessary, a foundational knowledge is expected.
    • Current Affairs: Stay updated on recent global and financial news.
    • Personal Clarity: Be clear on why you want to pursue an M.Sc in Finance instead of an MBA. Be prepared to explain your choice convincingly.
    • CV Familiarity: Be well-versed with everything you’ve mentioned in your CV.

3 – Group Discussion (GD)

  • Purpose: To assess candidates’ communication skills, leadership qualities, teamwork, and other desired traits.
  • Typical Topics:
    • “River linkage – the only solution to the water problems in India.”
    • “Cricket is a waste of time and national resources.”
    • “Rivers are our natural resource. All states have equal rights on them.”
  • Format:
    • 12-15 students per group.
    • Evaluation focuses on knowledge, communication skills, and teamwork.
  • Guidelines:
    • Avoid being overly aggressive or argumentative.
    • Demonstrate effective communication and collaborative skills.

Personal Interview (PI)

Prepare to discuss your background and experiences in detail.

Purpose: To provide candidates an opportunity to showcase their suitability for the position or program and to allow panelists to evaluate their personality.

Types of Questions:

Personality-Based: Strengths, weaknesses, achievements, failures, and goals.

Educational Background: Academic performance and relevance.

Current Affairs/Career Planning: Awareness of current events and future plans.
